The lack of creativity and inspiration in games has been getting a lot of attention lately, all this amid a wave of bad times in the industry, but recently former Sony Playstation president Shawn Layden commented on the "collapse of creativity in the industry." A while back we had co-founder Koen Deetman of Deliver Us Mars studio Keoken, where in conversation with Games Industry where he commented, " Creating, adapting and coming up with new ideas for five different games with over 40 publishers and having it continually rejected because it's too unique, it's not unique enough, the budget is too high, the budget is too small, it's too commercial, it's not commercial enough, it starts to make you wonder if it's us who really need to look in the mirror again or if there are other problems here ."

Based on this principle, it is not necessarily creativity that has been delaying things, but rather how the industry has come to shape itself over time, conservatism and comfort from the guaranteed to the doubtful take the table in front of courage and innovation, and this results in the obvious that we are already well accustomed to, " Our game will be even bigger than our last release, you will be able to explore everything your eyes can see, stunning graphics and memorable characters, come and discover the story of XXXXXX, pre-order available now" is more or less how the band has been playing...
For someone who comes from outside and starts playing today's games, that person's experience won't be as influenced by this feeling of more of the same, because it will be a "shallow experience for a shallow person", in that sense, but for people who have been on this journey for some time we know that everything that comes out is coming by pure convention, open world sandbox, boring RPG, graphics as the first appeal resource to capture players, games that draw attention for something different, really good, the next month there's already an announcement of a poorly made copy taking advantage of the novelty, besides the abuse of printing money through microtransactions and things within the game that don't make the slightest sense to be paid for, (" Bandai Namco apologizes for selling Tekken 8 DLC outside the season pass ") this was the most recent of these abuses.
The market is already so saturated and boring that people today prefer to play old stuff, for example - via HARDWARE.com.br (a recent survey conducted by Newzoo and released by Pushtotalk reveals a notable change in the behavior of electronic game consumers, who now prefer to dedicate their time to older titles).
Today, that nostalgia for old games has become about games from 3 to 6 years ago, this is a reflection of how outdated we are when it comes to new and quality experiences. Remasters/remakes following entire franchises will be all the rage now, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Horizon Zero Dawn, a game from 7 years ago that no one asked for a remaster and that, realistically, DIDN'T NEED IT , Naughty Dog with The Last of Us...
It is increasingly common for game releases to disappoint, and it is not at all surprising that a game comes out not necessarily buggy but rather soulless , an empty game where nothing really makes you want to say "damn, look at these quests", where you have fun, time passes and you don't notice, we have as more recent examples (Star Wars Outlaws, Forspoken, Concord and Redfall) games of different styles, different studios and different categories, the problem is not choosing victims, games from CD PROJEKT RED and Rockstar games , are examples of the opposite direction of the thing, the other side of the coin, you may think but talking about the giants is easy... but so many other giants that try to do more of the same and fail miserably, one fact is that you don't see Rockstar and CD PROJEKT RED releasing a game every two years, it starts there, the way of doing things is different once you do it the right way, there is no mistake, Team ASOBI the ASTRO play room studio, GSC GAME WORLD of STALKER 2, the guys were in the middle of a WAR, and managed to finish their game. I hope it is a BIG success, to show once again that when done right, managed correctly, there is no mistake. DEVOLVER with INSCRIPTION and Cult of the Lamb. CD PROJEKT RED, went through a big problem with the launch of Cyberpunk 2077, it was a problem of several scales , even today Cyberpunk, even "fixed", is not the game they wanted to launch... I'm sure, but it is a great game today. HELLO GAMES of No Man's Sky, made a beautiful mess by launching the game in a completely different way than presented, but they fixed the game and today No Man's Sky has a huge community. The gamer community has shown that there is room for redemption, but that this behavior certainly cannot become a standard.
So we wait patiently, somewhat impatiently, for things to improve and for the industry to get back on track. I'm not saying that all games back then came out 100%, but there wasn't this shame and this tremendous disregard for their customers, us game lovers.
